Selection criteria
After the application deadline, the Secretariat forwards the applications to a three-member Evaluation Committee appointed by the Departmental Assembly. The Evaluation Committee will examine the complete file of each candidate and may request any supporting documents not already submitted or additional information. The Evaluation Committee checks the formal qualifications of the candidates, invites the candidates for an interview and issues an evaluation table with the scores of the accepted candidates of the MSc, taking into account the following criteria:
- The BSc graduation grade, with a weighting factor of 30%,
- The grade in the undergraduate courses relevant to the subject of the MSc, with a weighting factor of 20%,
- Any published research work, additional degrees or postgraduate qualifications of the candidate, with a weighting factor of 10%,
- Any professional activity, with a weighting of 10%,
- Performance during the oral interview, with a weight of 30%.
Selection procedure
Based on the criteria listed above, the Evaluation Committee creates an Evaluation List of candidates in accordance with the following procedure:
- The Evaluation Committee will invite the candidates to an oral interview in person or by videoconference, which will be aimed at:
- The identification of specific skills and other characteristics and, more generally, the candidate’s personality.
- The identification of particularities and other issues that may affect his/her smooth integration into the programme.
2. The members of the Evaluation Committee evaluate each candidate individually and give him/her a score in the scale of 0 to 10. The candidate’s performance in the oral interview is the average of the grades given by the members of the Evaluation Committee.
3. The final grade for each candidate is the sum of the product of each criterion and the corresponding weighting factor.
Among candidates with the same grade, the ones with the highest grade in basic studies is selected.
4. The evaluation committee shall submit the evaluation list to the Assembly for approval.
The evaluation list approved by the Assembly is posted on the website of the MSc by the MSc Secretariat with respect to the GDPR.
5. Any objections of the candidates shall be submitted to the MSc Secretariat within five (5) days from the date of the announcement of the results.
6. Objections shall be examined by a three-member objections committee composed of members of the teaching staff, appointed by the Assembly.
7. The objections committee shall make a recommendation to the Assembly on the objections submitted.
8. The Assembly approves the recommendations of the objections committee and the Secretariat of the MSc posts the final list of accepted applicants on the website of the MSc.
9. Within five (5) working days from the announcement of the results, the accepted candidates are invited to respond to the Secretariat of the MSc regarding their acceptance by submitting a declaration of admission. Failure by a selected candidate to respond within the prescribed deadline is equivalent to a resignation from the candidature. In exceptional cases, which must be adequately documented by the selected candidate, the Assembly may accept a late application for admission to the MSc if the candidate provides evidence of circumstances that objectively prevented him/her from submitting the application for admission to the MSc in time. In the case of resignations or failure to submit the declaration of admission on time, the Secretariat of the MSc may call the next candidate from the evaluation list.
